Canton Network

Privacy-enabled settlement network powering Grofty wallet transactions.

What is Canton Network?

Canton Network is a privacy-enabled, interoperable blockchain built on the Canton protocol. It provides privacy, composability, and strong finality — making it well-suited for settlement and financial use cases.

Grofty is Canton-focused. Instead of requiring users to understand Canton-specific technical details first, Grofty presents the core actions — wallet creation, asset management, transfers, swaps, and bridging — in a familiar interface.

Privacy by Design

Transactions are only visible to the parties involved. Selective disclosure with sub-transaction privacy.

Strong Finality

Fast transaction finality with no reorganizations. Suitable for real settlement activity.

DAML Infrastructure

Smart contracts written in DAML with formal verification and strong typing.

Canton Party ID

A Party ID is your Canton identity used to send and receive Canton assets. In Grofty, your Party ID is shown in your wallet profile.

Format

your-name::1220...

Example:
grofty-user::1220abc123def456...

Party Hint

Human-readable prefix — not globally unique on its own

Fingerprint

Cryptographic hash — globally unique identifier

Always confirm the full Party ID before sending assets.

The party hint alone is not sufficient to identify a unique recipient.

Canton Coin (CC) & USDCx

Canton Coin (CC)

Native Canton Network asset. Used for transfers between Canton parties and as one side of the CC ↔ USDCx swap.

  • Transferable between Canton Party IDs
  • Subject to transfer preapproval checks
  • Normal CC transfer fee applies on applicable flows

USDCx

Canton ecosystem stablecoin. Grofty supports USDCx balance visibility, onboarding state, and preapproval readiness.

  • Swap to/from CC inside the wallet
  • Preapproval state shown in wallet profile
  • Bridge flows support USDCx entry
Transfer Preapproval

Some Canton transfer flows require the receiver to enable transfer preapproval before receiving direct CC transfers.

Grofty displays preapproval status in your wallet profile so you know whether your wallet is ready for direct transfer activity. If a recipient is not ready, Grofty may block the direct transfer or route through the supported fallback flow, depending on the active product configuration.

Wallet Profile States

  • CC preapproval state
  • USDCx preapproval state
  • Bridge onboarding state
  • Wallet status and role
Fee Types

Grofty has three primary fee categories — each with separate logic. They are not interchangeable.

Bridge Fee

Applied to supported bridge flows. Supports bridge operations, liquidity routing, and cross-chain settlement.

Swap Fee

Applied to CC ↔ USDCx swap flows. Supports liquidity access and swap execution.

Normal CC Transfer Fee

Applied only to applicable normal CC transfer flows. Not the same as swap or bridge fees.

Sender enters: 12 CC
Grofty fee: 6 CC
Receiver receives: 6 CC

Before confirming any transaction, Grofty displays:

  • Entered amount
  • Receiver amount
  • Fee amount
  • Asset symbol
  • Destination Party ID
  • Transaction type
